Eystrahorn and Hvalnes beach
Eystrahorn, literally the “Horn of the East”, is a majestic mountain in south-east Iceland. Often confused with Vestrahorn, its more popular neighbour accross the bay, Eystrahorn is characterised by its steep slopes and endless black sand beach, home to numerous birds, including swans.
Eystrahorn is prized by photographers for its unique shape and distinctive colours, providing an ideal setting for immortalising the sunset. Despite its undeniable beauty, Eystrahorn remains largely unknown to mass tourism. Its location on the border between the south and the east, marked by the Hvalnes lighthouse, means that most visitors don't explore this far..
