Falls of Balgy Hike

Hike overview

Set off on this charming circular hike along the southern shore of Loch Torridon, perfect for a family outing! As you walk, you can admire picturesque views of the loch and the majestic Torridon mountains, including Beinn Alligin.

The first part of the route crosses the Aird Mhòr peninsula, which is lined with magnificent Caledonian pine trees. This gives way to a more rugged second part that runs alongside the Balgy River and its eponymous waterfalls to the river's mouth at Loch Damh.

Remarks

Parking: There is no dedicated parking for hikers at the starting point. However, you will find a few parking spaces about 500 meters away on the road towards Torridon.

Difficulties and description of the hike

This hike is not technically difficult and is suitable for everyone. The route mainly follows well-maintained but unmarked trails and tracks, as is often the case in Scotland.
