Rogie Falls Hike

Hike overview

The Rogie Falls hike takes you through Torrachility Forest to a spectacular suspension bridge that spans the Black Water River. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the falls. This short, accessible trail near Inverness is an ideal outing for the whole family.

In August and September, you can watch wild salmon swim upstream and make impressive leaps to reach their spawning grounds.

Remarks

Parking: Paid parking is available directly along the A835, about 3 km north of Contin. Indicative price in 2025: £2 for up to two hours and £3 for up to four hours.

Best time to visit: The hike is accessible year-round, but the best time to see the salmon is from June to October, with peak activity in August and September. The falls are particularly impressive after heavy rain.

Difficulties and description of the hike

This hike is accessible to all and presents no difficulty. The route follows two separate forest trails: the Salmon Trail and the Riverside Trail. Both trails are well marked.
