Uath Lochans
Explore this magnificent circuit around four small lochs formed during the last Ice Age. Nestled in the heart of the majestic Inshriach pine forest, this walk offers you the chance to observe local flora and fauna, including red squirrels, dragonflies and other insects.
The trail is carefully marked along its entire length, making for a very enjoyable hiking experience.
More details on the hike
You will find a small parking area at the end of the forest track, just a few hundred meters after leaving the main road. The route we suggest combines the white and red trails. The start is on the other side of the parking lot entrance.
Start by following the white path around the Uath Lochans. With a little luck or patience, you may catch a glimpse of dragonflies, beetles, frogs and other insects around the lakes and bogs. At the junction with the red Farleitter Crag Trail, continue on the latter. This fairly steep trail takes you above Creag Far-leitire (“creag” means rock face in Gaelic) and offers a magnificent bird's eye view: pine forest as far as the eye can see, glistening lochs and the rounded peaks of Glen Feshie.
The rest of the route is more conventional and less spectacular, but just as enjoyable. Follow the red signs back to the parking area.
