Blà Bheinn
Blà Bheinn is the only Munro peak (over 3,000 feet, or 914 meters) of the thirteen on the Isle of Skye that is not in the Cuillin Range. This makes it an exceptional vantage point.
The trail is generally very good, rocky and steep in the second part. At the end of the ascent there are slippery scree slopes and a few stretches of scrambling.
More details on the hike
There is a large car park at the start of this hike, provided by the John Muir Trust, a Scottish association dedicated to the preservation of wild spaces. It's also thanks to them that there is an excellent trail at the start of the route. The hike begins with a gentle climb of around two kilometers with magnificent views of Blà Bheinn opposite and Loch Slapin behind. After crossing a stream, the slope becomes steeper towards the Fionna-Choire cirque. Just before you reach the grassy areas of the cirque, the path forks off to the right, heading northwest towards the summit. The real climb begins!
The path is very rocky, with lots of scree, and offers a real high mountain atmosphere. However, if you follow the GPS route, there are no major technical difficulties (there are several parallel paths that are rougher and slightly vertiginous in places). After around three hours of effort, the summit is reached, offering a 360° panorama, certainly one of the most beautiful on the Isle of Skye.
For the way back, simply follow the same route.
