Beinn na Caillich

Discover Beinn na Caillich, the Old Woman's Mountain in Gaelic, located west of Broadford on the Isle of Skye. It rises to 732 meters and is part of the Red Hills, characterized by their rounded hills composed mainly of granite, giving them a reddish hue in certain lights

The route is mainly off-trail, with an approach and a return through marshy areas. The ascent is steep and rocky, but once on the ridge, the trail is very pleasant and offers absolutely magnificent panoramas of the surrounding area. The descent from Beinn Dearg Mhòr is very steep, over scree, and requires great care. Because of these difficulties, this hike is little frequented and offers a peaceful and secluded experience in the heart of the Isle of Skye wilderness.
