Loch Coulin Hike
Hike overview
This hike, located in the heart of the Highlands near Torridon, is one of the most beautiful low-altitude walks in Scotland. First, the route follows the eastern shore of Loch Clair, then circles Loch Coulin. This route offers splendid, panoramic views of the region's iconic mountains, Beinn Eighe and Liathach. These mountains are reflected in the waters of the lochs.
This walk is accessible to all and allows you to admire spectacular alpine peaks without intense effort — a rare combination that makes it a must-see in the Torridon area.
Remarks
Parking: There is a small, free, roadside parking lot on the A896, just opposite the junction leading to Coulin Lodge and Loch Clair, which is the starting point of the hike. The route begins on a private road leading to Coulin Lodge. Pedestrian access is permitted, but please respect private property and close the gates behind you.
Difficulties of the hike
This hike presents no difficulties. The route is almost entirely flat, with only 110 meters of elevation gain throughout. The trails are generally of very good quality; you will mainly walk on wide tracks and well-defined paths, with only one slightly muddy area near Loch Coulin.
