Reynisfjall

Reynisfjall is a small mountain at the southernmost tip of Iceland, overlooking the village of Vik. It is home to a rich bird population, including puffins that take refuge on its cliffs between June and August. It is also a remarkable viewpoint with panoramic views of the long black sand beach of Reynisfjara, the stacks of Reynisdrangar, the majestic Dyrhólaey peninsula and the endless expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.

This hike is very little frequented and takes place on an unmarked trail that is relatively easy to follow. On the way in, you'll follow a wide track from the outskirts of Vik village to the Reynisfjall cliffs. On the way back, the route takes you along a mountain trail, with some slightly vertiginous cliffside passages.
