Kirkjufell
Kirkjufell, rising to 463 meters above sea level, is Iceland's most emblematic mountain. Its pyramidal silhouette and neighboring waterfall, Kirkjufellsfoss, attract many tourists and are often highlighted by travel agencies. Located on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, this tourist attraction is one of the most photographed in the country, and Kirkjufell is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Its Icelandic name, meaning “church mountain”, evokes its distinctive shape, reminiscent of church steeples.
Kirkjufellsfoss, a 16-metre-high waterfall, lies just to the south of this majestic mountain, offering an exceptional foreground from which to admire Kirkjufell. It is also famous for having been featured in the Game of Thrones series as “Arrow Head Mountain”.
