Berserkjahraun
Berserkjahraun is a 4,000-year-old lava field on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It's not a viewpoint, but a little-used tourist track that winds its way through this splendid lava field, surrounded by majestic volcanoes. As you explore the site, you'll discover endless moss-covered rocks and lava formations of unique and fascinating shapes. Berserkjahraun is certainly one of Iceland's most beautiful lava fields.
To get there, take dirt road 558 from Route 54. This track is accessible to all vehicles, provided you drive slowly. It's a real pleasure to travel in such a setting, almost alone in the world.
