Seltún geothermal area
Seltún, located in the Krýsuvík region on the Reykjanes peninsula, is a fascinating geothermal area located on the fissure zone of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, making it a high-temperature zone.
Visiting Seltún is like entering another world. You'll discover solfataras, fumaroles, bubbling mud pools and steaming hot springs, all in a magnificent palette of colours. Although Seltún isn't the most impressive geothermal site in Iceland, it is very accessible, just outside Reykjavík.
Opposite the site and across the road, don't miss the very pretty Grænavatn lake, with its characteristic green colour.
