Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Fjallsárlón is a beautiful lagoon at the southern end of the Vatnajökull ice cap. The lake was formed by the meltwater from Fjallsjökull, one of Iceland's largest glaciers and an ice tongue of Vatnajökull. The glacier regularly releases large blocks of ice that end up in the Fjallsárlón lagoon.
The panorama is impressive, with glittering icebergs in the foreground and the majestic Fjallsjökull glacier in the background. Fjallsárlón is considered the second largest glacial lagoon after nearby Jökulsárlón.
Despite its recent popularity, Fjallsárlón remains less touristy than Jökulsárlón and offers visitors a more peaceful and intimate experience.
