Seyðisfjörður
Seyðisfjörður is a small village in eastern Iceland, nestled between spectacular mountains and one of the country's most beautiful fjords. Founded in the 19th century by Norwegian fishermen, this picturesque village soon became a thriving herring-fishing port. Today, Seyðisfjörður thrives on fishing, tourism and crafts, not least thanks to its port, the only maritime link between Iceland and continental Europe, which attracts many tourists.
Known as an artistic capital, Seyðisfjörður is home to the second-largest number of art galleries and design boutiques in the country after Reykjavik. Its light-blue church, inspired by Norway, is the emblematic symbol. You'll also discover its brightly-colored houses, typically Scandinavian. Don't miss a stroll along the Seyðisfjörður Rainbow, a tiled path symbolizing the village's support for the LGBTQI movement.
