Barden
Discover the Barden hike, a relatively accessible route offering breathtaking views of Senja's iconic peaks, including Segla, Keipen and Breitinden. This hike is a local favorite.

The parking lot is on the road to Fjordgård, just before the tunnel. This is the same starting point as the hike to Keipen and Grytetippen. The start of the hike is probably the least pleasant part: a half-hour climb through a very swampy area, overrun with mosquitoes and other insects. Once at the pass, the trail continues to the left (right for Keipen). Follow the ridge, the slopes get steeper and rockier, sometimes slightly vertiginous. You will then reach a wide grassy plateau before reaching the summit of Barden.
Enjoy a 360° panoramic view over the northeast of Senja island. You can admire the fjords of Mefjorden and Ornfjorden, as well as the peaks of Breitinden (the highest point on the island), Keipen and Grytetippen, and not to forget Segla to the north, Senja's emblematic peak.
The descent follows the same route.

REMARKS
The vast grassy plateau just before the summit is an ideal place to pitch a tent. The light is beautiful in the early morning. For those who wish, it's possible to continue the hike to Segla and/or Fjordgård.
