Víðimýrarkirkja church

Víðimýrarkirkja is one of the few grass-roofed churches preserved in Iceland. Built in 1834, it is distinguished by its grass-covered walls, while the front and rear gables are of wood. In the early 20th century, its future was uncertain, but fortunately its cultural value was recognized in time, and the National Museum of Iceland took charge of its restoration.

You can visit the interior of the church from early June to late August, from Tuesday to Sunday, between noon and 6 p.m., for a fee of ISK 1,000 per adult.
