Vinnufossen Hike

Hike overview

Get up close to Vinnufossen, one of Europe's most breathtaking and impressive waterfalls, which stands at a total height of 865 meters. This short hike offers a unique opportunity to experience this natural spectacle, where turbulent waters from the Vinnufonna glacier cascade majestically down the rock face in multiple tiers.

Remarks

Best time of year to hike: The trail is accessible year-round. However, if you want to see Vinnufossen at its most powerful, visit in late spring or early summer when the waterfall is fed by snowmelt.

Difficulties of the hike

This route is more a stroll to a viewpoint than a real hike. There are no major difficulties along the way. The trail starts as a gravel path and turns into a stone staircase with 700 steps. It's important to note that this ambitious staircase project is still under development, with the ultimate goal of reaching the top of the waterfall. While the current experience is already spectacular, it is a step towards an even more grandiose future achievement.

What you'll love

  • A unique opportunity to admire up close the power and raw beauty of Vinnufossen, one of Europe's highest waterfalls (865 m).
