Val Fiscalina Hike
Hike overview
The Val Fiscalina valley is located in the Sesto Dolomites, enclosed within the Tre Cime Nature Park. The nearly flat route follows the valley up to Rifugio Fondovalle, which is set against a spectacular backdrop of vertical rock faces and jagged peaks: Croda dei Toni, Cima Una, Cima Undici, and Punta dei Tre Scarperi.
This very easy hike is accessible to everyone. The second half sees more foot traffic, while the first section remains wilder and more charming.
Remarks
Parking: The free Croda Rossa parking lot in Moso is the best starting point. The paid parking lot at the Dolomitenhof allows you to shorten the route, but you'll miss the beautiful approach section.
Traffic restrictions: From mid-June to early October, vehicle access to the upper part of the valley beyond Moso is prohibited from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This restriction does not apply to the Croda Rossa parking lot located lower down the valley.
Description and difficulties of the hike
The route follows trail 102 from start to finish. It is on smooth terrain with very gentle slopes and a modest elevation gain spread out over the entire route. The trail is well-marked, and navigation is straightforward.
From the Croda Rossa parking lot, the trail enters the forest and crosses alpine pastures and meadows to the Dolomitenhof hotel. Although often overlooked by hikers who start directly at the Dolomitenhof paid parking lot, this first section is one of the most beautiful. It has a pastoral atmosphere, few people, and the first unobstructed views of the peaks.
The valley then opens up into a magnificent rocky amphitheater with, from left to right: Cima Undici, Croda dei Toni, Cima Una, and Punta dei Tre Scarperi, the highest peak in the massif. The wide track finally reaches Rifugio Fondovalle (1,548 m), nestled at the foot of the rock faces in an exceptional setting. Return via the same route.

- The charming wooden Rifugio Fondovalle building set in a spectacular setting at the foot of the great walls—the perfect place to stop before turning back.
- Remarkable accessibility: a very gentle slope and wide, smooth track make this hike suitable for everyone.
