Nesheia
Discover a beautiful, easy hike on the south side of Flakstadøya. At the top you'll be rewarded with a magnificent view of the village of Nusfjord, the island's highest peaks and the south coast of Vestvagøya.
The trail is generally clearly visible, but you may find it useful to use GPS tracking on the second half of the hike, where you'll encounter several parallel paths. The slopes are not particularly steep, but you'll have to climb a number of small hills before reaching the true summit.
More details on the hike
Park in the parking lot on your right (coming from the north), about a kilometer before you reach the village of Nusfjord. On the other side of the road, a few dozen meters to the north, you'll find the trail (signposted Napp, Kilan). Follow this trail for about 800 meters, then turn right onto a path that climbs straight up the hillside. You'll recognize the junction by two standing stones. Follow this path to the top of Nesheia. The main challenge is to stay on the right path and avoid taking a parallel path. Along the way you'll climb a few small hills before reaching the top of Nesheia. If you come across a passage that seems difficult, turn around - you've probably left the right path.
Along the way, you'll enjoy magnificent views of Storvatnet lake and the impressive cliffs of Stjertinden and Bjørntinden. You'll gradually discover the western side of Vestvagøya and the village of Nusfjord below. The panorama from the summit of Nesheia is simply breathtaking.
To return, simply follow the same route as described above.
