Capu a Cuccula

Discover a much less frequented hike starting from the Col de Vergio. The trail offers breathtaking views of the majestic Paglia Orba and Capu Tafunato to the north, and the Gulf of Porto, Capu d'Orto and Capu di u Vitullu to the west.

The trail is not very difficult, although it is not marked. You'll need to find your way looking for cairns along the way. Despite the lack of signs, this hike is relatively easy and offers magnificent panoramic views. It deserves to be better known!

More details on the hike

Start your hike from the Vergio pass (1477 m), where an imposing statue of Christ stands. Take the path to the northwest and follow the cairns carefully. The climb becomes steeper as you approach the pass, at an altitude of around 2000 meters. When you reach the other side, admire the summit of Capu a Cuccula and visualize the route ahead.

Continue towards the Pointe de Cricche, staying on the mountainside until you reach the ridge of Capu a Cuccula. Follow this ridge to the summit, making your way through dense vegetation at times. Once at the top, enjoy the extraordinary view that stretches from the Cinto massif to the Gulf of Porto to the west and the Rotondo massif to the east.

The return trip follows the same route as the outward trip.
