Bergerie de Tolla
The hike to the Bergerie de Tolla takes you through the Vivario communal forest alongside the Manganello stream to a picturesque sheepfold on the GR20 North trail. This shaded, peaceful route features numerous natural pools with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a refreshing break.
Open during the summer months, the sheepfold welcomes you to sample Corsican charcuterie, cheeses, and cold drinks in an authentic setting.
Remarks
Parking: Parking is no longer allowed in the hamlet of Canaglia. Parking is available at the Mulinello Bridge. Take the small local road for about one kilometer before reaching the forest track leading to the trailhead.
Opening period of the sheepfold: The sheepfold is only open during the summer months. Outside of season, you will not be able to eat there, but the route is still enjoyable.
Difficulties and description of the hike
The route does not present any technical difficulties. First, you take the slightly sloping, stony Mare à Mare Nord orange-marked variant through the forest to the Tolla footbridge. The trail runs alongside the Manganello stream under the canopy of beech and laricio pine trees. Then, you join the GR20, marked in red and white, and follow it to the Tolla sheepfold.
