Cascade des Anglais Hike

The Cascades des Anglais hike will take you to a hidden gem in the Vizzavona Forest. There, you will find dozens of small waterfalls and crystal-clear pools carved into the rock by the Agnone River.

The site owes its name to British tourists who came to recharge their batteries in this region prized for its cool waters and pure forest air from the early 20th century onward. Ideal for cooling off on hot summer days, the hike remains very popular during the high season.

Remarks

Parking: A large, free parking lot is available at the Vizzavona Pass, which is the starting point of the trail.

Alternative: You can also reach the waterfalls from Vizzavona station. This route is slightly longer (about six kilometers round trip) and follows the GR20 trail (red and white markings) through the magnificent Vizzavona Forest.

My advice: To enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere and avoid the crowds, arrive early in the morning.

Difficulties of the hike

The hike is not difficult and is ideal for families. The trail is clearly marked throughout. Most of the route is in the forest, but there are a few rocky and sometimes slippery passages, especially near the waterfalls.
