Polischellu Waterfalls Hike

Hike overview

The Polischellu Waterfall hike takes you deep into a spectacular canyon carved into the Bavella Massif. Emerald pools, natural slides, and waterfalls line the way. This short, family-friendly hike takes less than 30 minutes to reach the first natural pools, providing the perfect setting for a refreshing swim in crystal-clear water.

However, since 2024, access to the site has been strictly regulated. Only those accompanied by a professional guide are permitted to explore the waterfalls. This measure is designed to ensure visitor safety following several accidents.

Remarks

Regulations since 2024: following several accidents, the Quenza town has introduced strict regulations. From January 1 to October 31, access to the Polischellu waterfalls is prohibited without a certified professional guide. Failure to comply may result in a fine of €135 per person.

Parking: There is a small parking lot at the Polischellu Bridge, which is located 9 km from the Bavella Pass on the D268 road. Due to its limited size, it is strongly recommended that you arrive early in the morning, especially in the summer.

Difficulties of the hike

Access to the first waterfalls is easy, with only 30 meters of elevation gain over 500 meters.

If you plan to hike beyond the first three waterfalls, be aware that the terrain quickly becomes more technical, with exposed and aerial passages that are not recommended for families with children.
