Punta di a Vacca Morta

Punta di a Vacca Morta (literally “Dead Cow Point”) is a 1,316-meter peak near the hamlet of Cartalavone. The hike is easy, but the 360-degree panorama from the summit is nonetheless grandiose. From up there, you can contemplate both the west and east coasts of the island, including the bay of Porto-Vecchio, the Alta Rocca, Lake Ospedale, the Aiguilles de Bavella, and even Sardinia on a clear day.

The trailhead is in front of the gite d'étape “Le Refuge”. The trail begins by following the Mare a Mare South path, marked in orange. Then the path is dotted with cairns all the way to the summit. There are no major difficulties.
