If your priority is the view, choose Capu d'Orto. If you prefer tranquility and less crowded trails, choose Capu di u Vitullu.

Difficulties and description of the hike

The ascent of Capu di u Vitullu requires considerable physical effort, with a 12-kilometer round trip and an elevation gain of 870 meters. The well-marked trail gently slopes up to the pass between Capu d'Orto and Capu di u Vitullu (at an altitude of about 1,150 meters) and mainly runs through the forest on a wide track that gradually turns into a trail.

Beyond the pass, the terrain becomes rockier, and the trail becomes less obvious. You can find your way by following the numerous cairns and keeping the summit in your sights. The last section requires going around Capu di u Vitullu from behind. Some sections require you to use your hands, but they are still very accessible and do not present any major technical difficulties.

  • Very few visitors compared to other hikes in the region.
