Skógá Waterfall Way

The Skógá Waterfall Way hike is part of the famous Fimmvörðuháls Trek. Starting at Skógafoss, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls, the hike immediately offers spectacular views. This trail allows you to leave the crowds at Skógafoss behind and discover the tranquility of Iceland's natural landscape.

The trail continues upstream along the river Skógá, which rises from the nearby Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers. On its way down to the ocean, the river meanders through a landscape featuring more than twenty waterfalls (25 according to some sources - we'll let you count them!).

This hike follows the well-marked Fimmvörðuháls Trek trail from the Skógafoss waterfall and back. Although the route is not technically difficult, its length should not be underestimated.
